Order 13 Perfect Square

Mathematicians, it's incredible!
It's so easy!
How couldn't you think about it before?

This was our April Fools' Day 2000! Most probably an order 13 perfect square doesn't exist. We cheated.

We drew squares and rectangles on a notebook:

Then we "optimized" the squares by a Darwin Machine:

Only the 14x14 square is a ... square.   :-)   :-)   :-)
